Before Shopify: Key Operational Challenges

Conditional Discount & Payment Logic Limitations
Mud Jeans required a cart-level option allowing customers to receive a 2% discount for direct payment with direct delivery. Selecting this option automatically applies the discount and hides a specific payment method during checkout, without relying on manual discount codes. Shopify’s native functionality did not support this conditional logic.

Legacy Customer & Agent Login Constraints
The previous system allowed agents to log in as assigned customers and place orders on their behalf. After migrating to Shopify’s standard customer accounts, this agent-based workflow was no longer supported, disrupting established B2B ordering processes.

Different pricing structures were needed for specific customer groups, such as wholesale and regular buyers. Managing these variations within Shopify’s default pricing model proved challenging.

A cart-level checkbox was implemented to allow customers to opt for a 2% discount with direct payment and direct delivery. Using Shopify Checkout Blocks and custom logic, the specified payment method is dynamically hidden when the option is selected. Thanks to our Shopify development services team, we built a private app to automatically apply the discount at checkout, removing the need for manual discount codes.

The legacy login system was replaced with Shopify’s native customer accounts supported by an OTP-based login flow. Customer companies were structured within Shopify, with agents assigned to their respective companies. Agents can now securely log in via OTP and place orders on behalf of assigned customers within a session.

Custom price catalogs were created and assigned to customer companies using Shopify’s native catalog functionality. This enabled differentiated pricing for B2B customers, such as wholesale and retail rates, without manual intervention.

Automated Customer Signup & Onboarding
A custom signup form with Shopify API integration was built to automatically create customer accounts in Shopify and populate all required details in the admin. An approval workflow notifies the Mud Jeans team for verification, allowing approved customers to start placing orders immediately.
